How to get the get the best deals on a Rental Car – Not ever agent is equal!

Time to rent a car in Australia? Maybe you’ll be traveling to one of the awesome Australian cities that you’ve never been to before and just think screw it, lets explore this city by car!

Or maybe you want to explore the greater region in style without been limited to public transport; renting a car is the best way to do this in solace and comfort.

If you have never been in the position of needing to rent a car, you might not know how to begin. Hopefully here’s some information that can help you out!

What age can you get a rental car in Australia?

The first thing you should be aware of is that some agencies in Australia have a minimum age that a driver must meet before a vehicle can be rented.

Now, it depends by which agency you rent from as to what the age is here, but often the age is 25 so make sure your check before you book. In addition to meeting that minimum age, you must also be able to provide proof that they are a licensed driver; you will need to have a country-issued driver’s license or another legally accepted form of proof.

Your driver’s license will prove that you are of the legal age and that you can drive!

Most car rental agencies in Australia require a credit card on your rental application.

You will probably be asked if you’d like to purchase an insurance policy that will protect you, any passengers, and your vehicle while you have it rented.

This is a service that many people like to take advantage of, though it is usually optional. You can decide if you need or want insurance based on what you expect/hope to be doing during the days you plan to drive your rented vehicle.

As a rule, I do advise doing this. But when you book check the fees as they do vary and suddenly a cheap rental car in Australia may become very costly. Also, I always take a few photos of the rental car and any noticeable damage.

I just think this covers you a bit further in case some rental agents hasn’t done there job right and noted down the previous damage.

If they do try to accuse of additional damage you can also ask for the paper work of the last 3 rentals as this will often show the damage. I don’t mean to freak you out here, it is rare but it can happen and there have been cases of this in Australia.

Freedom, baby!

Once you’ve rented the rental car, you can go wherever you want to! Boom! The freedom of being able to get behind the wheel and drive anywhere, whenever you want to is one of the best parts of travelling Australia and really gives you that feeling of freedom.

When travelling a country as big as Australia, you’ll be able to explore the destinations that are out of the way and rarely seen by tourists (and trust me there are heaps of these!), Driving through the every changing landscape of Australia is the best way to really get to know the country.

It’s just not the same when you have to stay confined to the schedule set by a tour group. You can travel time permitting, chilling as long in as you want in a few places you love or bypassing others that you don’t like.

When you’re ready to go home, drop your rental car off at the depot and you are away!
