Best time for camping in Bremer Bay
The best time for a camping vacation in Bremer Bay depends on personal preferences and individual circumstances. In general, the climate here is mild and temperate, with warm summers and mild winters.
The summer months (December through February) are generally the warmest and busiest times of the year, as the peak travel season falls during this time. Expect temperatures of up to 26 degrees Celsius and plenty of sunny days without rain.
In the winter months (June to August), the average temperature is 15-16 degrees Celsius. However, temperatures can vary depending on the time of day, weather conditions and location in the region. You might encounter more frequent rain, but fewer other tourists will be around, so beaches are often deserted.
In general, however, the weather is pleasant all year round, making the region suitable for a camping vacation at any time of year.

You’ll get to choose between two official camping sites which are the Beaches Resort Tourist Park and the Bremer Bay Caravan Park. Both are good choices, but if you’re looking for even more adventure, you can also enjoy free camping in Bremer Bay for a night right at the beach. You’ll find all you need to know below.
Bremer Bay Beaches Resort Tourist and Caravan Park
Bremer Bay Beaches Resort Tourist Park offers a range of accommodation options, from camping and caravan sites to cabins and chalets, making it the perfect place for a relaxing beach vacation. Bremer Bay Caravan Park
Bremer Bay Caravan Park is a popular vacation destination in Western Australia. It offers a range of accommodation options, including campsites with and without electricity, cabins, and chalets.
Located on the shores of Bremer Bay, the park offers easy access to the town’s main beach and surrounding nature. The caravan park provides a range of facilities and amenities, including a swimming pool, playground, basketball and tennis court, barbecue area, and camp kitchen, making it the perfect place for families and groups to relax and enjoy their stay in Bremer Bay.
In addition to the beach, the park is close to several attractions and activities in the area. The town is home to many stores, cafes, and restaurants that offer plenty of dining and entertainment options.
Bremer Bay Caravan Park is a fantastic destination for those who want to vacation near the ocean. The location is ideally located, so you are only a few meters from the beach as well as only a few minutes from the city centre. So you can make your day exciting and fun without spending much time in the car.

Free camping Bremer Bay
There are no official free campsites in Bremer Bay itself. However, it is allowed to stay overnight at any of the surrounding beaches.
In total, there are four beaches: Bremer Bay Beach, Main Beach, Fishery Beach, and Short Beach.
There are no restrooms or showers at the beaches, let alone water or electric hookups. For this reason, it is only recommended that you stay at one of the free camping beaches in Bremer Bay if you are self-sufficient.
Also, be careful on the roads leading to the beaches. The signage can be confusing if you are unfamiliar with the area and some roads are difficult to drive. Free camping at the beach in Bremer Bay is only recommended if you have a 4WD since the soft sand makes it very easy to get stuck.
Important notice: Wild camping in Australia is a complicated topic, and regulations change from state to state. Always follow the rules and keep an eye out for signs. If you’re camping wild make sure to leave no trace and treat the site with respect, keeping it clean and tidy for the next campers.

Camping and caravan parks outside Bremer Bay
While there are only two camping sites in Bremer Bay itself, you’ll find a handful of bush camps located further out, which can be a good option for budget travellers or those who want to get away from the holiday crowds. The drive to town from these camps is only around 20 minutes so you’ll still be close to all the best beaches.
Toolibut Bush Camp
Toolibut Bush Camping is a small campsite located a short 20-minute drive from Bremer Bay, although its location is inland and not at the beach. The campground is about 68 hectares and offers enough space to find your own private corner even on a busy day.
The campsite has a camp kitchen with basic facilities, a toilet block and a rainwater hook-up. There is no electricity, and the use of generators is prohibited. Luckily there are fireplaces where you are allowed to make campfires. Wood is sometimes provided but can also be collected from the surrounding forest areas.
It is common for kangaroos and other wildlife to visit the campsite at dawn, so please keep your dog on a leash. There is a designated paddock where dogs can run free so make sure to stick to the rules.
The campsite has many small signposted footpaths through the surrounding forest, which are great for a walk. Keep an eye out in the thicket, you might get lucky and see some kangaroos or other wildlife. We saw a ton here!

Tozer’s Bush Camp
Tozer’s Bush Camp is also about a 20-minute drive from Bremer Bay and offers plenty of space to find a private spot, although the site is a lot smaller. The campsite has a camp kitchen with adjoining picnic benches, toilets and showers, as well as a large fire pit ideal for larger tour groups.
The campsite is ideal as a stopover on your way to Bremer Bay. Explore the nearby hiking trails and immerse yourself in the beautiful nature. We always love it here!
The campsite is best suited for self-sufficient vehicles, as there are no electricity or water connections for RVs. Make sure to bring everything you need if you’re planning on staying at this beautiful bush campsite outside of Bremer Bay. It will be an adventure and well worth it.
Our tip: This is a small bush camp and not really comparable to a large caravan park. Adjust your expectations and take everything you need for your stay, including water and food.

Quaalup Camping Area
The Quaalup Camping Area is a little further away from Bremer Bay than the two campsites mentioned above. It takes about 45 minutes to drive to Bremer Bay, but this is really only due to the winding road network in the region.
The campground is comparatively small and only has room for seven caravans or tents. For this reason, you should book in advance and find out if there is space available before making the long journey.
In addition, Quaalup Camping offers cabins for 2-5 people, for those who do not come with their own tent or RV.
You’ll get to use the toilets and showers with hot water, as well as a BBQ area that can be used for cooking. For a campfire, you can use the fire barrels provided. The best thing about Quaalup Camping is that drinking water is provided, so you don’t have to bring your own.
Unfortunately, this is not a dog-friendly caravan park, so look for other options close to Bremer Bay if you’re bringing a furry friend.
All in all, for $16 AUD per person per night, you get a very clean pitch and well-maintained facilities. The helpfulness of the staff is a bonus and we always feel well cared for here.
Our tip: Make sure to go on the Quaalup Nature Walk, which is perfect for seeing beautiful flowers and local wildlife if you’re camping here.

The best things to do in Bremer Bay
Looking for fun and exciting things to do in Bremer Bay? Here are some activities for your camping trip.
1. Go whale watching in Bremer Bay
Bremer Bay is a prime whale watching destination and is especially well-known for seeing killer whales that migrate here. You can either join a boat tour to see whales or go on a hike along the coast, where you can spot whales if you keep a keen eye on the waves. July to October is the best time for whale watching in Bremer Bay, when you can spot Southern Right whales and Humpback whales, while January to April is best for seeing killer whales, Orca, Sperm Whales and Pilot Whales.
2. Visit the Fitzgerald River National Park
The Fitzgerald River National Park is a stunning natural area located near Bremer Bay. It offers a range of hiking and nature trails, as well as the opportunity to see a variety of native flora and fauna. Go here for a fun day spent outdoors, and make sure to bring a picnic.
3. Relax on the beach
Bremer Bay is known for its beautiful beaches, which are not only an excellent spot for free camping but also for swimming, surfing, and other water activities. If you’re looking for more remote beaches, head to the coastline northeast of town.
Beach walks are a fantastic activity in this area, just make sure not to take any sand or shells with you to protect the delicate ecosystem.
Our tip: Make sure to bring a sun umbrella and an esky to the beach with you. There is little shade and not a lot of chances to buy cold drinks in our experience.
4. Go fishing or crabbing
The waters around Bremer Bay are known for their excellent fishing and crabbing opportunities. There are plenty of spots to try your luck, whether you’re a seasoned angler or a complete beginner.
5. Take a boat tour
In town, you’ll find various tour operators who organise tours or private excursions along the coast. You can see dolphins, seals, and other marine life or visit some of the nearby islands. Enjoy a day out on the water with the entire family and see Western Australia from another perspective.
6. Hike the Port Ann Heritage Trail
The area has a wide variety of easy hiking routes, and the Port Ann Heritage Trail is one of the best. Located just a short drive from town, this 1.5-kilometre walk takes around an hour and will provide fantastic views of Point Charles Bay and plenty of opportunities for whale watching.
7. Go for a drive
The surrounding area is known for its stunning natural beauty, and many scenic drives offer the chance to explore the region. Whether driving along the coast or heading inland, there are plenty of great spots to stop and enjoy the scenery. If you have the time, make sure to drive southwest towards Albany, which has incredible beaches.
